Mets started playing football in his hometown Viljandi with the youth academy of Tulevik. Flora
In 2011, Mets signed for Flora. He made his debut for Flora on 1 March 2011, in Estonian Supercup victory over Levadia, winning the match 5–3 in a penalty shoot-out.
Mets made his Meistriliiga debut on 2 April 2011, in a 1–0 away victory over Kuressaare and soon established himself as first choice centre-back alongside Karl Palatu.
Viking
On 5 December 2014, Mets transferred to the Norwegian club Viking for an undisclosed fee, reported to be €170.000. He made his debut on 6 April 2015 in a 1–0 away loss against Mjøndalen.
Mets represented Estonia in the 2012 Union of European Football Associations European Under-19 Championship. He made his international debut for the senior national team on 19 November 2013 against Liechtenstein.
