About the Book Biographical books, or bios, are detailed descriptions of a person's life. A biography is more than simply the basic facts, like education, work, relationships, and death. It portrays a person's experience of major life events. A biography presents a subject's life story, emphasizing certain aspects of his or her life, and including intimate details of their experiences, which may include an analysis of their personality. Biographical works are generally non-fiction, but fictional works can also be used to portray a person's life. An in-depth form of biographical coverage is referred to as legacy writing. An authorized biography refers to a book written with the permission, cooperation, and at times, participation of the subject or the subject's heirs. An autobiography, on the other hand, is written by the person themselves, sometimes with the assistance of a collaborator or “ghostwriter”. Excerpt from An Address, Delivered Before the Literary Society of Granville College, Ohio: At the Annual Commencement, July 17, 1844 Whoever has but slightly analyzed the principles by which the various pursuits that occupy the life of man, connect themselves with his mind and heart, has often, we doubt not, been inclined to distrust the process he has employed, so great is his astonishment at the result of his investigation. The test to which he has submitted his own opinions, has discovered the secret power that controls and directs them, while it developes all the combinations of motive which impel the mass who mingle with him in the same common enterprize. That principle is individual elevation - that motive, stripped of its apparent purity, is merely selfish, seeking for him who indulges it personal advantage and personal ease, without reference to its influence on the character or happiness of others. Bellamy was born on August 28, 1847 at Cincinnati, Ohio, United States, the son of Bellamy and Elizabeth (Drinker) Storer, and the descendant of William Storie, who with his father Augustine Storr, emigrated from England about 1636 and died in Dover, Maine. Bellamy was the nephew of David Humphreys Storer and the cousin of Francis Humphreys Storer and Horatio Robinson Storer.
He was educated in the common schools of Cincinnati, in a private school at Boston, and in Harvard College, where he received the A. B. degree in 1867.
In 1869 he graduated from the law school of Cincinnati College, commenced practising law in his native city, and was appointed assistant attorney for the southern federal district of Ohio, 1869-70. Storer took very little part in congressional debates and his only considerable utterance regarding foreign affairs was an attack upon the administration's policy in Hawaii.
His reward, an appointment on May 4, 1897, as minister to Belgium, seems to have been disappointing, but in view of the fact that both he and his wife were Roman Catholics, the appointment was a logical one.
After two years of quiet usefulness at Brussels he was appointed on April 12, 1899, to be minister to Spain. There he successfully handled such post-war problems as the return to Spain of Spanish prisoners of the Filipinos and the release of Cuban political prisoners in Spain.
According to the Austrian foreign minister Storer became "persona gratissima" at the Austrian Court and the Emperor "spoke of him in terms of the highest consideration and personal esteem".
It was therefore a matter of some regret at Vienna when Storer was summarily removed from his position on March 19, 1906. From Storer's Letter to the President and the Members of his Cabinet, November, 1906 (1906) it appears that the President, who had asked Storer to urge upon the Pope the claims of Archbishop Ireland to a cardinalate, had come to fear the political consequences of having his name involved in church controversies and had therefore rebuked both the Ambassador and Mrs. Storer for undue activity in ecclesiastical matters.
The Storers failed to respond to the President's letter; the Ambassador's resignation was requested, and he was removed before his resignation had had sufficient time to reach Washington. Storer returned to his practice in Cincinnati.
He died at Paris, France.

Storer converted to Roman Catholicism from Episcopal Church in 1896.
A lifelong Republican, he was elected to the Fifty-second and Fifty-third congresses, March 4, 1891-March 3, 1895, serving on the committee on interstate and foreign commerce during both congresses and on the foreign affairs committee in the Fifty-third Congress.
On March 20, 1886, he married Maria (Longworth) Nichols, the widow of George Ward Nichols and aunt of Nicholas Longworth, 1869-1931.
